Rochester Poets, a reading by New York City-based poet GEORGE GUIDA

Description: Dear Members & Friends,

Join us on Sunday, August 18, for the seventh event of our 100th Anniversary Year Celbration, a reading by New York City-based poet GEORGE GUIDA, followed by our usual Open Mic. The event will be held from 2-5 pm, in the Living Room at Legacy at Cranberry Landing.

George Guida has published seven books, including four collections of poems, most recently “Pugilistic” and “The Sleeping Gulf.” He also serves as Senior Advisory Editor to “2 Bridges Review.” A revised edition of his collection “New York and Other Lovers” will appear in 2020, along with two new collections: “Zen of Pop” and “All the Photos Never Shot,” aand a novel in vignettes, “Posts from Suburbia.”

In addition to writing creatively, George reviews collections of poems for various journals and publishes scholarly work in the area of Italian American studies. He is a past President of the Italian American Studies Association and an incorporating officer of the Italian American Writers Association.

When he isn’t writing, George teaches writing, literature and cultural studies courses at New York City College of Technology, where he is Professor in English. He also teaches graduate writing courses at Walden University and contributes to his wife’s new business, MacFadden’s Coffee, in Dansville, New York, to which the Guida family will soon relocate from George’s hometown on Long Island.

Don't forget that our open mics are NOT limited to poets: singers, musicians, short fiction writers, comics, and even dancers are also welcome.

Even if you can't join us, if you know folks who might enjoy attending, to perform or as audience members, pass the word and send them the following link to our public invite: http://j.mp/RoPo1908

You can also support RoPo's ongoing efforts with an annual membership, which is still only $20. To join using your credit/debit card, go to http://squareup.com/store/rochester-poets/

Our readings are FREE and open to the public; donations to support Rochester Poets are encouraged and gratefully accepted. Refreshments served.

See you on the 18th,
