PeaceWorks Rochester

Just to catch up to what a white male earned in 2017, Latinas need to work all the way into November 2018. African-American women need to work into July. White women need to work until April 17. April 10 is designated Equal Pay Day to represent all women.

Three events are planned for April 10 to protest this economic injustice. Join Rochester NOW and the Greater Rochester Area Branch AAUW at one or more.

Closing the Wage Gap and One Fair Wage, 7:00 - 8:00 pm, AAUW Perkins Mansion, 494 East Ave.
NYS Department of Labor Commissioner Roberta Reardon will speak on "Closing the Gender Wage Gap." Also speaking will be Mohini Sharma, Restaurant Worker Organizer, Metro Justice. She will talk about One Fair Wage, the fight for a minimum wage for tipped workers.

Unhappy Hour, 5:00 - 6:00 pm, East Avenue (across from 494 East Ave.)
Protest UNFAIR PAY by carrying signs (bring your own or use one of ours) and wearing red to symbolize “seeing red” over unfair pay. Our Unhappy Hour will end with a cash bar inside the AAUW Perkins Mansion.

Dinner, 6:00 - 7:00 pm, AAUW Perkins Mansion, 494 East Ave.
Join AAUW for its monthly dinner. RSVP by April 5 to Kim Frarey at 455-0477 or email Cost: $25. Note: You do not need to attend the dinner in order to attend the 7:00 pm program.

All events (except dinner) are free and accessible. Reserve child care by calling 585-512-8801.

The Equal Pay Day events are also supported by COPE (Coalition for Pay Equity) and Public Policy of AAUW. Contact Rochester NOW at or 585-512-8801 with questions.
