Unity Night: a seedbed for growing a cohesive community

Description: Unity Night, November 4, 2017

If you can, please bring a dish to pass and join us for our regular community meal at 6 p.m. As always, there will be good food and friendly faces.

Later, around 7 p.m., join us as we view Changing the World, One Wall at a Time, a documentary feature film on Education Is Not A Crime – the world’s largest street art and human rights campaign, which raises awareness about education apartheid by Iran’s government against tens of thousands of Baha’is in the country. The film features interviews with popular artists – such as Rone from Australia, Astro from France, Marthalicia Matarrita from New York, and Elle from Los Angeles – as well as activists with experience of the Civil Rights movement, the anti-Apartheid struggle in South Africa, and human rights work on behalf of Iranians of all backgrounds. Iranian Baha’is with personal experience of being denied their right to higher education also share their stories. More about the film, including a short trailer, at

Following the documentary, stick around as Kyle Corea- who worked on the film- facilitates a discussion about the potentiality of using mural art to “uplift the world of being”. Kyle Corea is a Rochester native and a Baha'i. He received his BFA from Syracuse University in Film and works as an independent filmmaker, creating short subject documentaries, music videos, and branded content. He enjoys collaborating with other artists, companies, and non-profits when he is not teaching workshops in super 8 and 16mm filmmaking at Mono No Aware in Brooklyn, New York.

We look forward to seeing you.
