2:00pm [2:15pm] How We're Nourished" exploration of food
Description:
What difference does it make whether we treat food as a commodity, or as a vital link between ourselves and the earth that nourishes and sustains us? Come and explore this question at our Seeds of Hope gathering on Sunday, September 1. We’ll meet at 2:15 at Nancy Kasper’s organic farm, 9393 York Settlement Rd., North Rose, NY 14516. There will be car pooling at 1:30 from the parking lot next to Asbury First Methodist Church (1010 East Ave.). We will begin our gathering by sitting by a creek, deeply absorbing the sights, sounds and scents of the earth that we are a part of and that is part of us. If you have a special poem or a song to share that connects you with our Earth, please bring it to share. Nancy will take us on a tour of her farm and show us the down-to-earth ways she embodies her deep, contagious love affair with Mother Earth. We will also have time for open sharing about soil restoration, permaculture, composting, reducing food waste, and plant-rich diets. You are invited to bring your questions and any information or resources that you would like to share with the group. If it rains, we will do some of our process indoors, but we’ll still tour the farm, so please bring rain gear or an umbrella if rain is possible. The event will end around 4:30. All are invited; no RSVP is needed. David Inglis
