The new Rochester Area Interfaith Climate Action presents the First Annual Interfaith Climate Summit Sunday, May 19 Registration at 1:30 p.m. program 2:00-5:00 p.m. Greece Baptist Church 1230 Long Pond Rd. (just north of W. Ridge Rd.) Rochester, NY 14626 ♦ Share in interfaith celebration of the gift of our Earth ♦ Learn current best practices for recycling, switching to renewable energy, making heating & cooling more sustainable, reducing and handling food waste, creating a community garden, educating and motivating for Creation care, and advocating for sustainable legislation. There will be a workshop by and for youth. ♦ Experience the intergenerational Carbon Footprint Game The event is free. Description:
Join us for the fourth event of our 100th Anniversary year, a reading by Buffalo-based poet SCOTT WILLIAMS, followed by our Open Mic. Sunday, May 19, 2-5 pm, in the Living Room at Legacy at Cranberry Landing. Scott Williams is a SUNY Buffalo Emeritus Professor of Mathematics. He's also a poet and author of short stories who's been a featured reader in New York, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Ontario, and The Virgin Islands. His poetry and fiction has appeared in a number of journals and newspapers, among them The Buffalo News, Juniper, Punch Drunk Press, Owl Light News, and Scryptic Magazine. His most recent books are "Bonvibre Haiku" (CWP Press, 2017), "Natural Shrinkage" (Destitute Press, 2018) and the sci-fi poetry & flash-fiction series "A Flash of Dark, Vol 1 & 2" (Writers Den, 2018). He co-produces the reading series Second Stage Writers in Buffalo and Poets Soup in Canandaigua and hosts workshops in the poetic forms ghazal and haiku. Don't forget that our open mics are NOT limited to poets: singers, musicians, short fiction writers, comics, and even dancers are also welcome.
