6:00pm [6:00pm] From Cigarettes to Climate Denial: Merchants of Doubt screening
Description:
We're going to kick things off with a screening of Merchants of Doubt: Monday, March 25, 6:00PM Flying Squirrel Community Space 285 Clarissa St. Rochester, NY Suggested Donation: $5 Discussion to follow. Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/2227663860778550/ About Merchants of Doubt: Inspired by the acclaimed book by Naomi Oreskes and Erik Conway, MERCHANTS OF DOUBT takes audiences on a satirically comedic, yet illuminating ride into the heart of conjuring American spin. Filmmaker Robert Kenner lifts the curtain on a secretive group of highly charismatic, silver- tongued pundits-for-hire who present themselves in the media as scientific authorities – yet have the contrary aim of spreading maximum confusion about well-studied public threats ranging from toxic chemicals to pharmaceuticals to climate change. About the Flying Squirrel Community Space: We exist to provide a welcoming space that will cultivate and sustain long lasing relationships between activists, artists, and community members in Rochester so that we may work together to create positive social change.
