[2:00pm] Witness Palestine Film Festival starts
Description:
Witness Palestine Film Festival The Little Theatre Naila and the Uprising Sunday, October 21, 2 pm The story of the widespread, nonviolent Palestinian uprising of the late 1980’s, the First Intifada, is told through the lens of a young activist, Naila Ayesh. This remarkable period was shaped at the grassroots, with much of the leadership springing up from neighborhood-based women’s organizations. Jews Step Forward Monday, October 22, 6:45 pm Jews Step Forward is an award-winning independent documentary that highlights the personal journeys of members of the American Jewish community who courageously write and speak in support of justice in Palestine. This showing is co-sponsored with the Rochester chapter of Jewish Voice for Peace. The Stones Cry Out Sunday, October 28, 2 pm Although they live in the land where our religion was born, Palestinian Christians are often ignored. With their Muslim brothers and sisters, these Christians have since 1948 suffered displacement, expulsion, war, occupation and oppression. This film documents their history and their lives today. Veterans for Peace in Palestine Monday, October 29, 6:45 pm This film documents a recent trip that US veterans made to the occupied Palestinian territories, where they met with the young Palestinian activist, Ahed Tamimi, and her family. The vets witnessed the steadfast nonviolent resistance of Palestinian civilians in the face of violent attacks from armed Zionist settlers and Israeli soldiers. Notes: Tickets for the films shown at The Little are $8.00. Students $5.00 WitnessPalestineRochester.org
