[3:00pm] Earth Day Celebration - This Land is Our Land
Description:
Earth Day Celebration - This Land is Our Land Sunday, April 22, 3-5pm Parcel 5, 275 East Main St., Rochester NY Enjoy an epic Earth Day celebration at Parcel 5! There will be music, games, food, and fun for the whole family. This year's Earth Day celebration will focus on the responsible and sustainable use of the land we live on. Seating options at Parcel 5 are limited, so feel free to bring a lawn chair, or get yourself a piece of sod to sit on. Our goal is to cover enough of the gravel with sod to make it picnic friendly, a soft place to play and fall, and to beautify the space... for everyone. We'll bring in squares of sod, and donate them afterwards to gardens, parks, lots... wherever they can be used. To Sponsor some Sod for your own bottom or for others, go here. Our Land Roc is a coalition of community groups and local residents seeking to cultivate a more equitable, sustainable, and collaborative approach to development in the City of Rochester. Our Land Roc identifies and advocates for land use practices that promote the long-term health and stability of our communities, rather than policies that privilege a few. We seek permanently affordable, sustainable development in our neighborhoods.

Description:
ONE TAKE FILM FESTIVAL With Community Partner Rochester Pachamama Alliance Present UNFRACTURED Sunday, April 22, 2018 6:30 PM A hopeful documentary about fighting with your whole heart, Unfractured follows introspective biologist and mother Sandra Steingraber as she reinvents herself as an outspoken activist and throws herself into an environmental war that many believe is unwinnable. Branded a “toxic avenger” by Rolling Stone, Sandra quickly emerges as a leader of New York’s biggest grassroots movement in decades. Determined to win an uncompromising battle with the oil and gas industry, Sandra decides she must fight with her whole heart—devoting all her time, energy, and money to the cause. But as the film opens, her personal life is thrown into crisis when her husband Jeff begins having one stroke after another. She knows her family needs her at home, but Sandra can’t stop—not until she and her allies win a state-wide ban on fracking. Chanda Chevannes, Producer/Director and Sandra Steingraber plan to attend the screening. https://www.unfractured.com/ http://otff.org/ https://thelittle.org/ * at Little Theatre 1 on East Avenue
