Description:
Healing the Great Divides January 20 America’s deep divisions are stressing our nerves, straining our families and undermining our democracy. And they are crippling our ability to unite around the major threats to our common future. We are inviting the greater Rochester community to come together across the lines of political party, race, class, culture, religion, and national origin to Healing the Great Divides, 2:00-5:00 p.m. January 20, 2018. The location is Greece Baptist Church, 1230 Long Pond Road, Rochester, NY 14626. Together we will: · Work with the pain that today’s divisions cause in ourselves, our families and our country · Explore the experiences, feelings and values that give rise to our positions and identities · Learn ways to connect to people whose values and feelings are different from those we hold dear · Learn essential skills for turning conflict into connection · Learn how to embody the inner unity, confidence and power we need to be active agents of healing · Create a personal plan for bridging the divides we encounter Thomas Warfield will also be presenting a moving artistic presentation. The event is free, but please register in advance at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/healing-the-great-divides-tickets-41308755600?aff=eac. Please share this invitation with people who are ready to help us shift from division to connection. Strand by strand, we can begin knitting our society together. This event is presented by Rochester Pachamama Alliance in collaboration with Rochester National Coalition Building Institute, through the support of our community sponsors, which include to date: Facing Race Embracing Equity (FR=EE), Sisters of Mercy, GRCC/Faith in Action Network, Rochester Committee on Latin America, Mahavatar Babaji Mystery School, First Unitarian Church Social Justice Council, Greece Baptist Church, Bait un Naseer Mosque, Christian Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, the Islamic Center of Rochester, the Interfaith Alliance of Rochester, Sisters of St. Joseph, the M.K.
