6:00pm [6:00pm] Unity Night - The Science of Self Improvement
Description:
Unity Night, January 6, 2018 If you wish, please bring a dish to pass and join us for our regular community meal at 6 p.m. As always, there will be good food and friendly faces. Later, around 7 p.m., Dr. Susan Peirce Thompson will present “The Science of Self Improvement” where she will describe the latest brain-based research in the science of human behavioral change. Dr. Susan Peirce Thompson was born and raised in San Francisco. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from U.C. Berkeley in 1997, earned her Ph.D. in Brain and Cognitive Sciences from the University of Rochester in 2003, and completed her Post-Doctoral training at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia in 2005. She was a full-time college psychology professor for eleven years, first at Hobart and William Smith Colleges and then at Monroe Community College. Currently, she is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at the University of Rochester. In late 2014 she founded Bright Line Eating Solutions, a company dedicated to educating people about the psychology and neuroscience of sustainable weight loss. In just over three years, the Bright Line Eating movement has reached over 750,000 people in 190 of the 195 countries on earth. She lives in Rochester with her husband and three daughters. We look forward to seeing you. Steph. Unity Night is a free, family-friendly, community-building event that uses hospitality, vibrant programming, and the arts as a way to create a space for meaningful conversations. The Rochester Baha'i Center is located at 693 East Avenue with a parking lot and entrance to the Baha'i Center on Oxford Street.
