Protest at the Verizon Store in Pittsford Plaza Protest at a Verizon store against the rollback of net neutrality protections. Join other Team Internet members at the protest. Internet users outraged by top Verizon lawyer turned FCC Chairman Ajit Pai’s plan to gut net neutrality are planning to protest at Verizon retail stores across the country on Thursday, December 7th, one week before an expected vote at the FCC. Protesters will make it clear to members of Congress that the time is now to stand for net neutrality, not Verizon’s bottom line. And please remember, this event is about protesting actions of Verizon executives, lobbyists and their supporters in Washington, not the employees at these stores. Description:
City-Wide Tenant Meeting December 7, 2017 at 6pm, in the Common Room of Southview Towers (500 South Ave. Rochester), will be the first in a series of City-Wide Tenant Meetings to defend and expand tenant rights in Rochester, NY. With more than 12,000 evictions a year in Rochester and rents rising faster than incomes in many neighborhoods across the city, tenants are organizing to win basic rights to live in dignified affordable housing. We will begin to build a collective response to support tenants facing the habitability crisis at Southview Towers, tenants who are being threatened to have to their Section 8 taken away at Manhattan Square and the Savannah downtown. In addition, we will work toward a shared strategy, in conjunction with groups across the state to achieve rent stabilization, protections against unjust evictions and increased abilities for tenants to enforce necessary repairs. All supporters of tenants' rights are welcome. Community support will be necessary win changes in to tenant-led efforts.
