[12:30pm] Concert to Benefit Puerto Rico
Description:
The Session of Downtown Presbyterian Church and Director of Music Ministry, Lee Wright, are so excited to be collaborating to help present this fund-raising concert in the church's sanctuary for our sisters and brothers in Puerto Rico. Between worship and this concert on Sunday November 5th at 12:30, the congregation is invited to enjoy wraps and cake in the Hallock Lounge. We are so thankful to Samantha Rodriguez, a long time soloist in our Chancel Choir, and to her boyfriend, Ben Magruder, for bringing their exquisite violin and viola music to this concert. Samantha calls Puerto Rico "my island," and expressed a desire "to be able to do something significant to help." We will also be blessed by the incomparable duo of Alan Jones and Phyllis Contestable--returning to the stage in support of Puerto Rico! In addition, this may be the first opportunity for some of us to hear The Mount Hope World Singers! Please invite your friends and forward this message widely! All proceeds from the free will offering at this concert will be sent directly to Puerto Rico via Presbyterian Disaster Assistance of the Presbyterian Church, USA. We are thankful to the Rev. Rose Mitchell, a former co-Pastor here at Downtown who now is a leader in the national church, and to Laurie Kraus, the Director of Presbyterian Disaster Assistance for the recent update that follows. Many thanks to Downtown Church member Barb Deitz for working with me to get the ball rolling for this exciting event! Blessings all around, Rev.Pat
